Bleasdale Vineyards Langhorne Crossing Red 2005
Wine Advocate The red wines start with the 2005 Langhorne Crossing Red, a blend of 47% Shiraz, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Petit Verdot. The wine was aged for 15 months in neutral American oak. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up a fragrant red and blue fruit nose followed by a ripe, supple-textured wine with surprising depth for its humble price. The wine offers some complexity as well as very good concentration and length. This terrific value is one to buy by the case for everyday drinking over the next 2-3 years. Once again, Bleasdale Vineyards has produced a portfolio of great values that consistently over-deliver. It is the second oldest family-owned winery in Australia, having started operations in 1950 and most of the vineyards are at least 50 years of age. Winemaker Michael Potts feels that for Langhorne Creek 2004 was a “big year for both quantity and quality, better than 2005. In 2005 yields were down 20% and there were heat spikes in February making things more complicated.” Score: 89. —Jay Miller, December 2007. Customers who purchased this item also bought:
